Stewardship at EFNA
In 2025 the EFNA board decided replacing the flagstones (pavers) in the amphitheater with concrete as its primary infrastructure task. M&S Development & Construction who provided a bid of $40,674. Fortunately, IDFG provided $35,000. The FEFNA board agreed to cover the remaining cost of $5,674. To reduce the cost by $2,250, volunteers gathered on September 27th to remove the flagstones and stack them on pallets, donated by Final Cut Turf & Recreation. Six pallets of flagstones were delivered to Prime Time Auction where they were sold in October.
SYC Construction LLC did an AMAZING job with the concrete and Anna Owsiak provided the final touch around the border. This was truly a team effort and could not have been accomplished without the help of A&E Engineering, M&S Development Construction LLC, SYC Construction LLC, Final Cut Turf & Recreation, Anna Owsiak, the EFNA Board and many volunteers. Special thanks to Maria Pacioretty and Jennifer Jackson for their continued efforts at Edson Fichter Nature Area.

The Friends of the Edson Fichter Nature Area are committed to assisting Idaho Fish and Game through education and active stewardship programs and ensuring that the EFNA thrives for future generations. The stewardship began in 2022 with Don Streubel placing new bench boards in the amphitheater and supporting them.
In August 2024 EFNA members Mike Larkin, Bob Myers and Don Streubel refreshed the observation deck by sanding and staining it to restore its durability and beauty. Volunteers helping with the benches and pruning the area were Nancy and George Spinner, Kathy and John Albano, and Macy Winters. For years, the High Desert Idaho Master Naturalist Chapter has also dedicated countless hours maintaining and enriching the EFNA. We celebrate our natural treasure and continue to protect and enhance Edson Fichter Nature Area.
