On a wet, windy, chilly Saturday morning, thirteen people explored the Edson Fichter Nature Area to photographically record as many different types of life as we could. Together, the group posted 420 observations to iNaturalist, a social network of naturalists, citizen scientists, and biologists. We identified 120 different species, including showy milkweed and Red-winged Blackbirds, Bullock’s Orioles and musk thistles, Western Tanagers and eastern boxelder bugs.
This was our second annual BioBlitz at EFNA. We’re hoping we’ve started a tradition.
In 2025, there were 31 participants and 378 observations. In 2026, there were only 13 participants due to inclement weather, and 420 observations with a total of 120 species.
